Title: EMCO at rehab centre in Perak ends
PETALING JAYA: The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at the moral rehabilitation centre (PPA) and staff quarters in Batu Gajah, Perak, will end tomorrow as scheduled after a downward trend in new positive cases.
In a statement today, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the health ministry confirmed that the spread of Covid-19 in the locality was under control and all positive cases and their close contacts had been quarantined.
Ismail added that of the 774 residents tested in the locality, 457 had been positive.
Meanwhile, Ismail said 369 people were arrested by the police yesterday over MCO-related offences, with 330 issued compounds, 37 remanded and two granted bail.
Most of the offences, he said, were for taking part in activities at nightclubs and pubs (155).
Other offences included failing to provide materials for contact tracing registration (77), failing to wear a face mask (39) and taking part in activities which made physical distancing difficult (34).
In addition, a total of 3,676 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on 44,556 supermarkets, places of worship, restaurants, hawker stalls, factories, banks, government offices, as well as land, water and air transport terminals.
The authorities also detained 35 undocumented migrants and seized five vehicles as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.
On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 141,424 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to March 11 and placed under quarantine.
Some 1,014 tested positive and were sent to hospitals for treatment, while 133,441 have been allowed to return home.
Another 6,969 are undergoing mandatory quarantine.

For me, it’s wild to think how quickly things can spiral in places like that where people live so close together.
I guess it also highlights how important it is to have proper systems in place at rehab centres—not just for managing things like Covid-19 but also for creating an environment where people can actually focus on recovery without added stress. From what I’ve seen, centres like abbeycarefoundation.com really prioritize making recovery feel safe and manageable, even during tough situations.
