Title: Acoustic Guitar Design 000-OM-Dred Hybrid
This section has lost love and well Doug thank you for getting it going with your 000 size. I am slowly getting back into the guitar swing of things and I have a handful of prototypes that I am designing that covers acoustics, semi-hollow body and solid electric. Mike Hill @Mike Hill trying to get the man motivated as we have been talking about building and woods for quite some time. I’ll get this started. Trying to do a hybrid to bridge the gap between guitars that I am fond of back in the golden era which includes an 000 to an OM and a dreadnaught size- slotted headstock w/ volute, 25.4” scale length, neck attached at the 12th fret, 20 frets, pyramid bridge or belly fridge, dovetail construction, X bracing for top + ladder bracing for back. I am not there yet, but I am at first base. Thinking of curly koa back and sides, Adirondack spruce, Belizean mahogany neck with Gabon ebony or Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge……

Interesting build Arn. How do you find the right dimensions for the hybrid? I'm not sure I care for the octagon sound hole though, I think partly because the sound hole and the pick guard don't mesh very well. Maybe pour a custom pick guard? Different for sure but will be hard to make and set a rosette for that shape.

I built something similar a while back and found combining bracing elements gave me better control over tone and response. What really helped me visualize all the angles before cutting was using artmaster—it let me sketch out the hybrid bracing right on a 3D top view, which saved me from second-guessing the layout once I started gluing.
