1.Early Stage: Finish Instance Quests and Break Fogs
Sometimes you will come across the case that you cannot raid an Instance due to low Exp. To gain enough Exp, you can reset and re-attack the Instances you already passed. The fast way to gain Exp is to raid the Special Instances marked with EXP. (How to reset Exp Instances: Click it and reset.)
When attacking Army Instances, you can request Reinforcement by clicking the button of Reinforce in the interface of the battle.
Also, you can accumulate resources by breaking Fogs in World Map. Actually to break Fogs in the early stage will save lots of troubles for your later Country War experience.

2.Research Tech/ Update Equip/ Finish Instance Quests
a)Update Equip: As you upgrade, you will get and recruit new heroes. Do not forget to have your heroes newly recruited wear the best Equip. For example, wear Rare Equip after Lv35 and wear Epic Equip after Lv53. You’d better choose the Equip with Stars, which contain Gear Skills able to be refined.
b)Refine Equip: The Rare/Epic/Legendary Equip with Stars contain Gear Skills, which can be refined in the panel of Refine under the interface of Equip. The Gear Skills can enhance Fighting Power. There are three ways to Refine. The Advanced Refine has a better effect.
c)Research Tech: By researching Tech, you can gain benefits such as enhancing Fighting Power and receiving Resources.
d)Finish Instance Quests: It is important to pass as many Instances as you can, as you can get better Heroes and unlock more Tech this way. Do not forget to choose proper attack modes on the right bottom in the interface of Instance Battle.

3.Forge Armament/ Choose Heroes/ Country Wars
a)Forge Armament: Once you unlock Armament system, try to Forge Armaments, so that the overall attributes can be enhanced. The Armament level is a decisive factor to your achievement in later Instance battles.
b)Choose Heroes: As you pass Instance battles, you will get new Heroes. If you want to use new Heroes to fight, you will have to Train them from level 1. Considering to Train Heroes costs resources, it is better to Choose and Train Heroes skillfully. For example, recruit Heroes with different Terrain Tactics and recruit those who can attack more enemies.
c)Country Wars. Country Wars are the core gameplay in this game. To join Country Wars, you may get Food/Draft Orders/Iron/Trinkets from Killing Rank and may get Exp from Duel Rank and Siege Rank. The more rewards you get, the faster you can progress.
d)Shadow: You can recruit Shadows in Country Wars. The Attributes and Forces of the Shadows are totally same as your character. Also, you can gain extra Exp and Kills by using Shadow. If you deploy Shadows at the back of the army in battles, you can Lure or Strike to accelerate the battles.
e)Resources. In the later stage, you may feel the Resources are not enough. Therefore, it is better to budge your Resources from the beginning. In the game, their importance degrees are sequenced like this: Food>Iron>Wood>Draft Order>Gold. You can also get Resources from Blackmarket, Market, and Worship.

4.Other Tips
a)You can use Advanced Construction Teams to speed up construction and use Draft Orders to boost soldier drafting.
b)You can choose Income Mode of the Resources by clicking the bar of Resources on the upper side of the main interface. To choose a proper mode will be of a great help.

1  Gold is important until lvl 70 when you have 3 star legendary equipment.  After you are equipped it becomes a fairly useless resource.
2:  In the Market I consider the degree of importance to be Gems>Iron>Draft Orders> wood>food
3:  Food can either be highly important, or low importance, all depending on how active a player you are.  Eventually you get the tech to change your hourly bonus from gold to food, this helps alot.  If you play on PC stay logged in even if you are not actively playing.
4: Reemphasize on terrain advantage.  From level 1-70 just going with the newest most powerful of you heroes is usually enough to get you by.  But Post  70 the game gets much harder.  Every stage has a terrain type.  Each hero specializes in this type.  ALL Red and Purple heroes should be moved around after every advancement in the campaign based on this.  Also until you get Tony, Berg is a good permanent hero, He should always go first.

5: Finally, Participate in Country wars.  Capturing cities is highly important to helping you level up at the later levels.

6: advice when it comes to refining.   Getting rank 5 from free refine is.. near impossible, i wont say it is impossible.. it just.. a very very very low chance.   
Use free refine to get your gear to full rank 4, then use advanced with either paid or diamonds obtained from daily to try to get rank 5.   Get all rank 5 before tryign for the hidden skills,
