I’ve been wavering on the OEM Toyota console safe but the combo knob looks cheap and the other combo options out there suck equally and are just as expensive.

I found this inexpensive option on Amazon and bought it hoping the existing hole would be standard tube cam lock, good news, it is! There are a number of alternative lock options to fit that hole from barrel key, electronic, etc. so $120 (safe) + $10-$100 (lock) you’re still about $200 cheaper than OEM.

The OEM console safes always felt overpriced for what you get, especially with that combo knob that looks like it came straight off a budget toy. Swapping out the lock like you did is clever—makes the whole thing way more versatile. Had a similar experience with a home safe setup, and being able to customize the lock really made the difference. Plus, saving a couple hundred bucks and getting better options?

Those safes are terrible. The locks are terrible. The numeric roll is awful. Get yourself the oem box. It’s very good. Can often find them used on Facebook marketplace for 100-200.
