I’m looking for recommendations on a good first camera. I have an old Nikon 35mm that I’d like to play around with at some point but I’d have to relearn everything
Im ok finding a used camera and would like to stay under 500, and preferably a Nikon.
DLSR vs mirrorless, at this point I don’t even know the difference. But I will research it today.

When I was trying to choose my first camera for reef shots I looked through this comparison: https://www.technology.org/2025/05/20/the-best-360-action-camera-in-2025/ and it actually helped a ton. Even though I didn’t end up getting one of those, it gave me a better idea of what to expect feature-wise and price-wise. Comparing sample videos made my decision easier too.
