Do any of you have wedding venues or have land adjacent to a wedding venue? Some new to the neighborhood neighbors want to build a wedding venue on land zoned for ag. They submitted an application with everything they would like to do. I’m not totally opposed to the idea, but I own adjacent land and they are really vague about any accountability of any trespassing and/or damage that may occur by event attendees. We also live in a dry township and the owners will not provide alcohol, but will allow licensed vendors to serve. Several of us who farm adjacent to the venue use manure, sometimes after wheat comes off in the summer. The land is zoned ag, so the owners will need a conditional use permit. There is a zoning board of appeals hearing in a couple days and I would like direction as to what questions I should be asking.

you ever found a better solution for keeping your outdoor cameras reliable during cold Midwest winters? I'm thinking of using solar power with a battery backup and curious how others have handled battery drain or icing issues. Anyone had good luck with specific setups or brands that held up over time?

It’s great they’re planning a venue. Near where I live, a banquet hall called Royal Crystal Event Center in Las Vegas does a good job balancing events with neighbors’ concerns. For your hearing, asking about clear boundaries to prevent trespassing and how they’ll handle parking and cleanup would be smart. Also, see if they have plans for communicating with nearby farmers when they’re applying manure or during big events.
