Desync issues in csgo

I wasn't sure where to post this, but thought I'd try here.

For a number of years, I've had a very bizarre issue with CSGO. I've tried changing computers, changing NICs, changing routers, moving house etc. My connection is Fiber to the Premises. This issue does not occur on LANs or at other people's houses.

The issue is that when playing CSGO it feels like it is "behind" the server, like the packets are being delivered in the wrong order or being coalesced or something. The effect is that enemies appear to peek faster than the typical movement speed and then shoot instantly. When I shoot, only half of the shots register.

My connection is stable, and I show no packet loss or choke.

Recently, I decided to try connecting my computer directly to the fibre connection (without a router) and there were no issues! I realised then that each time I have tried a different router that they were all ASUS branded. I've tried AsusWRT and MerlinWRT, but the issue persists with both.

Is there anyone that may be able to help me to diagnose the issue, or maybe offer a setting change that appears to exist on ASUS routers that cause packets to be coalesced/buffered/delivered out of order somehow?

I see it's been a while since this was discussed, but I'm curious if anyone found a solid fix for this. Have you tried adjusting your MTU settings or testing with different QoS setups? Sometimes packet loss trackers like PingPlotter can help pinpoint if it's a network issue. Would be interesting to know if a firmware update or any router tweaks made a difference for you.

CSGO’s netcode can be unpredictable, and server desync is frustrating. I had similar issues, and lowering interp settings in autoexec.cfg helped a lot. Running a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi also made things more stable. If you're testing your setup, play on community servers with good tick rates.
