To remove and install the fuel tank on an Audi A4 B5 (1994-2001), follow these steps:
1. First, make sure the car is parked on a flat and level surface. Then, disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical accidents.
2. Locate the fuel tank under the rear of the car. It is a large, rectangular-shaped tank with fuel lines and electrical connections attached to it.
3. Before removing the tank, you will need to drain the fuel. To do this, locate the fuel pump relay in the fuse box and remove it. Then, start the car and let it run until it stalls. This will depressurize the fuel system.
4. Next, disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections from the tank. Use a fuel line disconnect tool to remove the fuel lines and a flathead screwdriver to disconnect the electrical connections.
5. Once all connections are removed, support the fuel tank with a jack or a transmission jack. Then, remove the straps or bolts holding the tank in place. Carefully lower the tank and remove it from under the car.
6. To install the new fuel tank, reverse the steps above. Make sure to properly secure the tank with the straps or bolts and reconnect all fuel lines and electrical connections.
7. After the tank is installed, reconnect the negative battery cable and start the car. Check for any leaks and make sure the fuel gauge is working properly.
8. Finally, dispose of the old fuel tank properly and clean up any spilled fuel. Your fuel tank removal and installation is now complete.
