At the company I work, we currently have 95 job openings. Every Industry in my province is experiencing staff shortages. From pool life guards to business management. Engineers, I.T., construction, office clerks, retail, restaurants. Right now, people are sleeping on sidewalks waiting for passport office to open. Shortage of staff and increase in demand has caused a crises in getting (re)new passport. In healthcare, at a local hospital, there were 12 nurses that quit or retired from the ICU department in one month and they have difficulty in replacing those nurses.

Where have all the workers gone?

I see it's been a while since you've posted, but I just want to ask—did anything come from your search or idea back then? It’s tough to find something meaningful, especially when you’re dealing with loneliness. Has anyone tried online freelancing or remote gigs lately? I found that dabbling in a few things from home gave me a bit of purpose again, even if it's not a full-time solution.

I’ve been in that situation and what helped me switch careers was getting a shrm certification cost. It gave me a better idea of how HR works and opened up more job options. I’m not in HR now, but even just knowing how hiring, team management, and workplace stuff functions makes a big difference, especially if you’re trying to stand out in interviews.
