I thought I had finally figured it out but now I'm not sure!!
I need to replace the Z axis on my modified plasma table,
The old Z axis motor was controlled and powered by a separate torch height controller, I couldn't get it to work with the new motion controller so I wanted to replace it with one I could control with mach3.
First I wanted to keep the old brushed DC motor (https://www.oyostepper.com/category-183-b0-Brushed-DC-Gear-Motor.html) as it has no issues and it would save me the hassle of disassembling it!
But the more I look at it the more I think it would be easier to replace, the encoder is 24v and most servo drives seem to work with 5v encoders,
