When I need to raise the pH in my saltwater aquarium, I typically start by checking the water parameters to ensure that low pH isn't caused by other issues, like high CO2 levels or low alkalinity. One of the simplest methods I use is adding a buffer, like baking soda or a commercial alkalinity supplement, which helps stabilize the pH by increasing the carbonate hardness. I also make sure to perform regular water changes with high-quality salt mix, as fresh saltwater often has a higher pH and can help balance the tank. Another technique I rely on is increasing aeration in the tank, either by adjusting my protein skimmer or adding an airstone, which helps drive off excess CO2 and naturally raises the pH. Sometimes, I'll even open a window near the tank to improve air exchange and reduce indoor CO2 levels. If my tank is heavily stocked with corals, I also check the calcium reactor settings, as improper adjustments can sometimes lower pH.
