Hello everyone,

This week, I developed a bacterial infection in my outer right ear due to excessive use of earplugs. I went to the doctor today, and he prescribed Ofloxacin eardrops after assuring me they are not ototoxic, which a quick Google search also seems to confirm.

However, knowing how understudied ear health is in general, I am still hesitant to use them out of fear that they might worsen my tinnitus. Has anyone here used Ofloxacin eardrops, and if so, did they cause any change in your tinnitus?

Thank you!

I see it's been a while since you've posted, but I just wanted to ask if anyone who used ofloxacin has had long-term effects on tinnitus, or if things settled down later? I'm dealing with an ear infection now and my doctor suggested the same drops, so hearing some updates from folks who've been through it would really help ease the worry a bit.

I had similar concerns, so I looked into natural stuff too. I ended up reading about mullein oil and its history in dealing with ear issues. You might find this helpful: https://secrets.shop/blogs/learn-the-herbs/mullein-fo-ear-infection . I haven’t tried it myself yet, but a few folks I talked to said it helped their discomfort without messing with their tinnitus. Definitely something to read up on and ask your doc about.
