The CEOE has given its approval to the proposal proposed by the Government to extend the protection scheme for temporary employment regulation files (ERTE) associated with the covid-19 pandemic until May 31 .

In a statement, the CEOE has reported that its Phone Number List governing bodies have unanimously decided to approve the document presented to them by the Ministry of Labor last week, while those of Cepyme will do so at their meeting this afternoon, according to business sources. .

CC.OO also adds to this support. and of UGT , as its general secretaries, Unai Sordo and Pepe Álvarez , have stated, in the absence of some "fringes", as they have clarified.

In this proposal, sources of social dialogue point out, it is proposed to extend the ERTE until May 31, maintaining the exemption and protection scheme , as well as the employment safeguard clauses ; adjusting the protected activities or CNAE and including administrative changes that will entail the automatic extension of ongoing files.

There are currently 755,613 workers in ERTE.

One of the sticking points in this negotiation has been the employer's request to modify the employment safeguard clause, so that companies can fire workers by returning only the aid received by those employees and not by the entire workforce.

Specifically, negotiation sources have explained to Efe that the employers' association proposed that companies have to return, in the event of non-compliance with the clause, only the exemptions of workers in an ERTE in that workplace and not the entire Template.

Likewise, it had been proposed to eliminate the restriction for small businesses, those with fewer than 50 workers.

The CEOE board has also given its support to ATA's request to provide protection and help to self-employed workers who are being affected by capacity and activity limitations by administrative order.

The appointment of the president of the hotel association CEHAT , Jorge Marichal , as president of the CEOE Tourism Council, and the president of Hospitality of Spain, José Luis Yzuel , as vice president of the same, has also been reported .

For their part, at a press conference, both union leaders insisted on the importance of renewing the agreement on ERTE , "although we are awaiting some issues" regarding the proposal that the Ministry of Labor sent them last night, Sordo said. , "a last-minute matter of clarification that we hope will be resolved . "

"In the next few hours, with all certainty, we will have closed" the agreement, said Álvarez, who added that in the last proposal there is some change, not a substantial one, "and we are analyzing it ," so that "the decrees, legally, they are impeccable and there is no need to resort to interpretations .

Regarding the commitment to safeguard employment, Sordo explained that it is maintained "literally" and has made it clear that "it cannot be" that the employers propose this issue after the economic effort made by the Government to protect companies and workers, which will exceed 20,000 million euros.

For his part, Álvarez reminded employers that Spain is the country that has used the ERTE figure in which employment is maintained for the shortest period of time.
