River water filtration problem

Hi, interested in opinions on water filtration when drawing from an open body of water. Debris and dirt gets into the suction pipe. How do you filter it?

Hi. I use a coarse suction filter https://aquaanalytic.ae/. It attaches to the pipe and drops directly into the water. It filters at the very preliminary stage. All debris like plastic, twigs and dirt stays on the mesh, protecting the water system and pump. When the mesh becomes dirty, it is automatically backwashed and the filter is ready for use again.
