Free Players or low VIP players gather point

I am one of those thrifty players who believe in not spending much to reach end game. I had spend $2 so far in this game, the first dollar is to get vip 1 so that I can get auto building which save me the hassle of city upgrading. The second dollar was a promotion that give me another 50 gold for top up event. Anyway, just sharing one thoughts of free players and low VIP players should do with gold. Gold to be strictly spend on refine from lvl 4-5, till everything reach 5. Then you can start worship for gem or iron.

There are extra ways to get iron, like complete all three daily events and your kingdom wins. Killing guards at every hour mark, opening killing chest and the 2 monthly event chests awards. I am sure there are also others way maybe others players can drop in and share.
