Hi,

I have a trip coming up which will have plenty of opportunities for some action cam activities. I have a very old GoPro 4 Silver, which hasn’t been used for years. Looking for a bit of an upgrade, but only for a 2 week holiday so looking at something second hand.

Is there much between a Hero9 Black and Hero 7 Black? Plenty of options from 130-190 on EBay. Both have image stabilising that my 4 doesn’t have, but are the newer Go Pro’s really all that much better for casual use?

Thanks!

I see it's been a while since you posted, but I just wanted to ask if you ended up going with a GoPro or tried one of the cheaper options like the Akaso or Insta360? I’ve been looking for something lightweight and easy to use for snorkeling and hiking, and curious how these hold up after a few months. Anyone else have long-term feedback on battery life or durability?

I ended up going with something from https://www.amazon.com/stores/Insta360/page/2A4E9629-9C41-48D0-B37A-F3A6CF3D74D9 and it's been solid for holidays—battery held up better than I expected, even on long days out. I really liked being able to switch between wide shots and tighter angles without swapping lenses. The built-in stabilization also saved me from ending up with shaky clips, especially on hikes and boat rides.
